Coffee, cake, flowers and morning sun in the garden coffee and cake

Took this photo in the garden of our first house in Antipolo. I didn’t know it was still in my hard drive. Those were the days when I was wide awake at the crack of dawn to fix breakfast and pack the girls’ lunch boxes. Seems like a lifetime ago.

It is dawn as I write this but it’s not like I just got up to fix breakfast nor pack lunch boxes. I haven’t gone to bed yet. Work. So now I think I’ll fix breakfast and then go to bed.

And that flower, never seen that for a long….long time.

    • Oh, that’s a store bought cake. From Shoppersville in Katipunan if I remember correctly.

A reader said the flower is called palong manok. :)

I so miss Shoppersville especially their bakeshop. Living in UP campus from 1974 up to just about six years ago, Shoppersville was the most convenient place to shop. We literally saw them grow from a very small neighborhood grocery to what it is today. Very good cakes there. Their Taisan in loaves and cup cakes use to be my favorite base for strawberry shortcake or other ref cakes or I would simply buy a dozen and frost them my self. How they simply melted in your mouth. There BLITZ TORTE was also divine!

Oh, I think I will be visiting UP soon. :)
